The South Lafourche Athletic Department fields 22 teams through out the school year with nearly 450 students participate in our sports programs.
Mission Statement:
SLHS Athletic Department provides student-athletes with a rich co-curricular program that encourages our students to grow as individuals and leaders by experiencing the importance of being part of a team. SLHS Athletic Department fosters commitment and loyalty to teamwork, pride, leadership, and fair play.
Vision Statement:
By utilizing highly qualified coaches, dedicated support staff and administrative personnel to provide a stimulating student-centered environment, multi-disciplinary skills will be developed through practice, competition, and collaborative team efforts. As a result, SLHS will:
Provide an athletic program that is a source of pride and is a connective rallying point for the student body, faculty and staff, alumni, local and regional community, future students, and diverse educational partners.
Field athletic teams which consistently perform successfully in district and state competitions.

Summer Tryouts and Programs
Wednesday April 9, 2025
7:00 pm
There will be a parent meeting held on Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00 pm for all incoming 9th grade athletes (Current 8th grade students)
Location: Competition Gym (Big Gym) at South Lafourche High School
This meeting is ONLY concerning those incoming students athletes who with to participate in athletics at South Lafourche High School for the 2025-2026 school year
Athletes do not need to be present at the meeting, but they are more than welcome to attend

The purpose of the Summer Athletic Packet is for those students that have not filled out an athletic packet in the previous year, but will participate in spring and summer tryouts and programs.
The Summer Athletic Packet should ONLY be filled out prior to any summer activity by student-athletes who are:
incoming freshman or
students who did not played sports at SLHS in the prior school year
If you fall into these groups who are new to SLHS Athletics and are going to participate in summer activities, this summer packet needs to be filled out and a valid physical (valid for 13 months) needs to be turned in prior to participation. The physical can be a copy of your 8th grade physical as long as it is valid for the entire summer period.
This packet and physical needs to be filled out prior to any activity. Turn in your filled out packet and physical to Coach Polkey, your coach, or the front office
It may take up to 48 hours to review your packet, so please fill it our and return it in a timely manner.
If there is an issue with your packet, it will be returned to your coach for correction along with a reason why.
A regular athletic pack will still need to be filled out prior to the start of the season (After Aug 1st)
Physical Night

Date Subject to ChangeEvery year SLHS host a physical night for all SLHS Athletes FREE OF CHARGE.
Completing a physical at physical night is not mandatory, but we encourage every athlete to utilize this free opportunity.
Times:
Seniors - 6:00pm
Juniors - 6:30pm
Sophomores - 7:00pm
Freshman - 7:30pm
Doors close at 7:45pm
Athletic Packets will be handed out this night as well. To save time, please complete steps 1 & 2 above ahead of arriving.
